Prepared from soluble calf-skin collagen (Product No. C857) by labeling with fluorescein-isothiocyanate (isomer 1).

Excess FITC is removed by gel filtration and sequential precipitations with NaCl and dialysis (43).

Lyophilized, salt-free.Collagen-fluorescein may be used as a substrate for the determination of collagenase activity of bacterial collagenase by quantitative fluorescent assay of lysed collagen.

Excitation is 490 nm, emission is 520 nm.
